Lo stile unico di Tallan ( aka Tim White o Quinton Whitman) è il risultato di una miriade di influenze. Dalla musica tradizionale delle montagne degli Appalachi alle ballate dei cantastorie riportategli dai suoi nonni ad artisti come Woody Guthrie; alla musica bluegrass e country a quella degli artisti con i quali è cresciuto quali Doc Watson e Johnny Cash; alle canzoni folk e politiche di cantanti e cantautori quali Muddy Waters, Pete Seager, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, David Bromberg e Crosby, Stills & Nash che hanno ispirato la sua adolescenza ; agli intricati, evocativi stili di vari artisti.
Quinton ha suonato per 4 anni musica country con la Flaherty Brothers Band, è andato in giro per 12 anni con la jazz/fusion band Still Portrait, infine gli ultimi 5 anni li ha trascorsi con la rock band The Ride, e da ciò si può capire quanta importanza abbia la musica per lui sia dal punto di vista della scrittura che della esecuzione
Nato fra le montagne della West Virginia, Tallan ha iniziato a suonare la chitarra quando aveva 12 anni. Sebbene egli abbia sempre continuato a suonare la chitarra , per molti anni era soprattutto conosciuto come un bassista - passando dal rock al country al jazz per poi ritornare al rock. Il suo primo amore era comunque la chitarra e a questo è ritornato in pieno dopo avere scoperto il mondo virtuale di Second Life cominciando ad esibirsi in vari concerti inworld.
I concerti di Tallan conducono l'ascoltatore in un viaggio attraverso la vita- le canzoni tradizionali di montagna o folk riportano alla mente le storie sulla vita fra le montagne della sua famiglia ,le canzoni rock e country spesso offrono lo spunto per commenti sociali.
Inolte egli dissemina i suoi shows con le sue canzoni originali, che possono essere sontuose composizioni che delineano ritratti strumentali o canzoni i cui versi possono essere pungenti o umoristici, graffianti rappresentazioni della vita moderna.

From the traditional Appalachian mountain music and storytelling of his grandparents and artist such as Woddy Guthrie; to the bluegrass and country music that surrounded him growing up by those such as Doc Watson and Johnny Cash; to the folk and political songs of singer/songwriters like Muddy Waters, Pete Seager, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, David Bromberg and Crosby, Stills & Nash that inspired him in his teens; to the intricate, haunting picking styles of an assortment of artists.
Throw in 4 years performing country with the Flaherty Brothers Band, a 12 year jaunt with the jazz/fusion band Still Portrait, then 5 years with the rock band The Ride, and you begin to understand the depth that is evident in his singing, playing and writing.
Born in the the mountain state old West Virginia, Tallan began playing guitar when he was 12 years old. Though he always continued to play guitar, for most years he was primarily known as a bass player - transitioning from rock to country to jazz back to rock. His first love though was, and is, the guitar and he has returned to it full force when he discovered the virtual world of Second Life and began streaming in live shows as a solo performer.
Tallan's performances take the listener on a wild journey through music and life - traditional mountain songs or folk song may lead to stories about his family's life in the mountains .... rock and country songs often prompt topical social commentaries ... and through out it all, he intersperses his shows with orginal songs that range from lush, instrumental portraits to songs whose verses can be poigant or humorous or sometimes biting depictions of modern life.
